Human Rights at Sea launches a new educational film explaining Labour and Human Rights
Today, Human Rights at Sea launches the second in its series of freely available educational films and accompanying infographics concerning maritime human rights protections and their impact on the maritime community, titled “Labour Rights and Human Rights”.
The film has been produced by Marlins, a leading crewing and maritime educational training provider, in co-operation with Bristol University’s Human Rights Implementation Centre, a leading independent academic centre for global human rights advisory work, Support Entity and partner to Human Rights at Sea.
The film and accompanying infographic has been prepared by Bristol University Master’s students and academics, has been legally reviewed by a leading international maritime law firm, and has been overseen by Marlins and their network of mariners and maritime reviewers.
“We are pleased to continue our collaboration with Human Rights at Sea, creating high quality training material that is essential to ensure seafarers feel valued, empowered and able to deliver their best.” said Darren Cassidy, Sales & Marketing Supervisor.
Dr. Sofia Galani, Lecturer in Law and project lead at the University of Bristol Law School commented: “The Human Rights Implementation Centre (HRIC) of the University of Bristol is delighted to have supported the background research of the second HRAS educational film. The film offers a clear and accessible introduction to labour rights and human rights at sea that can help seafarers around the world understand their rights in simple terms”.
On behalf of the Trustees, David Hammond said: “This is the second in what we aim to become a series of informative and freely available educational films for reference to by the maritime community, including seafarers and fishermen. The charity is very grateful to its donors for providing the necessary funds to make this a reality, and to the team which put it together so professionally.”
