LIBERTY PRRUDENCIA CREW REPATRIATED
“THANKING YOU ALOT , PLEASE KEEP HELPING SEAFARER THE SAME IN FUTURE , YOUR PRESENCE GIVES US HOPE OF SAFETY AND SECURITY.”
Human Rights at Sea is delighted to be able to pass on the confirmed news that all 16 of the former crew of the MV Liberty Prrudencia are being repatriated home tomorrow (Sunday 23 July 2017) to their families, and that their wages have been finally paid after the charity and other organisations, including the ITF, the Indian Consulate and ship managers were first alerted to their plight in February of this year.
On the 10th March 2017, Human Rights at Sea published a detailed investigative case study about the case highlighting the human impact of abandonment. This was followed on the 8th April 2017 by the publishing a desperate letter requesting help from the crew. On 20th April, the CEO, David Hammond had an OP-ED published by Lloyds List covering the issue, followed by an article on 21 April by Anastassios Adamopoulos of Lloyds List highlighting ITF being approached to fund the legal case.
Today, the charity and other organisations received the following thank you letter from the crew:
