London.UK. Human Rights at Sea is very pleased to share the news that it has ben shortlisted for the 2018 Safety at Sea Awards for the Best Crew Welfare Programme/Campaign. Among the fellow nominees for this category are the International Seafarers’ Welfare and Assistance Network (ISWAN), ITF, Marine Catering Training Consultancy, Sailors’ Society and Thome Group. The charity is delighted to share the opportunity with other prominent organisations.
Over the years Human Rights at Sea has produced two documents on crew welfare, (as well as e-learning courses for diversity and inclusion). The first one is the Health & Welfare Leaflet ‘Remaining Resilient after Traumatic Events’ for the benefit of seafarers, fishermen, their family and friends tackling the issue of how to remain resilient after a traumatic event at sea. This resource was published during the UK Mental Health UK awareness week in 2017 and was sponsored by Seafarers UK. It is freely available to download from the Human Rights at Sea website publications page.
The Remaining Resilient after Traumatic Events leaflet authored by Professor Neil Greenberg follows from HRAS previous Guidance on ‘Managing Traumatic Stress’ that was published through The Nautical Institute in 2016. Also available for download here.
The 2018 Safety at Sea Awards Ceremony will be held on the 18th October 2018 at the Le Méridien Piccadilly Hotel, Mayfair, London.
